REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKER, PSYCHOTHERAPIST

Hi there, I’m TAM.
I am a compassionate and approachable registered social worker and psychotherapist, who is committed to creating a supportive and non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to be yourself. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you with warmth, curiosity, and understanding as we navigate your unique journey together.
Whether you’re facing stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or life transitions, I’m here to help you uncover your strengths and support you with working toward your goals. Using evidence-based approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and solution-focused techniques, I tailor our work to your needs, always respecting your experiences and values. I work with adults (ages 16+), and at this time I am not providing therapy to couples, families, or those younger than 16 years of age.
Taking that first step can be hard, but you’re not alone. Together, we’ll build a path toward greater clarity, resilience, and well-being.
Let’s start this journey—at your pace, in your way.
My Approach
Warm and compassionate, balanced with humour, and relatable. My style is eclectic and informed by therapeutic approaches rooted in evidence-based practice, my lived experience, and genuine emotional support. In the therapeutic space, I will support you with feeling seen, heard, and empowered.
I support clients by celebrating their strengths, while also exploring their challenges. My aim is to help you build resilience, develop meaningful coping strategies, and reach your wellness goals- always within supportive, collaborative partnership.
AREAS OF INTEREST
I have a passion for supporting post-secondary students and their well-being. As someone who has attended university a few times, and who genuinely loves learning, I am also acutely aware of the challenges post-secondary students face. The majority of the individuals I work with are currently in school finishing their undergraduate or graduate degrees, or have just completed their studies and are embarking on their next journey. In the past, I have also supported first-generation students in university through a program at the University of Toronto. Continuing studies after high school, while exciting, can also be incredibly stressful. Know that I am in your corner cheering you on, and I aim to support you with navigating the world of academia while creating greater balance in your life.
I also have extensive experience in supporting individuals in community with stress, anxiety, mood fluctuations such as depression and bipolar disorder, substance use, psychosis, schizophrenia, gender-based violence, and grief. My practice is focused on creating safer spaces grounded in client autonomy, anti-oppressive care, and therapeutic trust.
in-person psychotherapy
I provide in-person psychotherapy sessions at Rise Psychotherapy in Mississauga, at the intersection of Matheson and McLaughlin near Heartland.
virtual psychotherapy
Receive psychotherapy online via videoconference. This is an accessible option for individuals who are unable to travel to the office in-person, or simply for those who prefer to receive psychotherapy within the comfort of their own space.
